After Losing My Memory, I Was Targeted by the Obsessive Movie Queen

[If you enjoyed this, please leave a good review. (🙏) My next novel is a similar xianxia story about a regretful ex: The Dao Companion Immortal Venerable Killed Me, Then Regretted It. The blurb is below.]

#She played her part so well, I almost forgot she was a lunatic to begin with.#

Yan He lost her memory in a car accident.

After waking, she looks through a photo album and sees a woman. The woman is stunning, seductive and gentle in the pictures, her red lips seeming like the most beautiful thing in the world.

Just then, a door opens. Yan He looks up and meets a pair of eyes as deep as a spring.

The woman rushes to her, her eyes full of tears.

The woman says she is Yan He's fiancee.

They are getting married soon.

Yan He looks into Lu Youqing's tender eyes, suppresses her growing unease, and believes her.

-

Once she's recovered, Yan He follows Lu Youqing home. The woman knows all her little habits and quirks. She accepts everything about her and loves her just as she is.

She won't let Yan He out of her sight or talk to anyone else. At night, she has to hold Yan He tight to fall asleep. When passion takes over, she blushes and calls Yan He's name again and again, pleading with her not to leave.

Yan He's heart slowly softens. She puts aside her earlier suspicions, dismisses them as oversensitivity, and loses herself in Lu Youqing's love.

Then one day, after a dream, Yan He suddenly remembers everything. There was another side to all this. Lu Youqing lied to her. The gentle, considerate, loving wife was all an act, a ploy from the very beginning. She had kept Yan He confined, cut her off from all social contact, and controlled her every moment.

Yan He takes back all her love and feelings, then leaves without looking back.

-

Lu Youqing loves Yan He deeply, but her obsessive, pathological love has hurt her.

Yan He has lost her memory. Lu Youqing sees this as a second chance from heaven and resolves to hide her madness and start over with Yan He.

She hides the things she has collected, dismantles the devices in the house that might frighten Yan He, and becomes a gentle, thoughtful wife. But no one knows that beneath Lu Youqing's harmless facade and soft smile, she is suppressing a terrifying possessiveness that is driving her to the brink of madness.

But secrets always come out. The day the truth is exposed, Yan He leaves without a backward glance, and Lu Youqing completely loses her mind.

-

Outside the villa in the pouring rain, someone stubbornly tries the passcode again and again. Yan He sits silently by the door until she hears glass shatter.

Lightning flashes. Yan He sees a pair of deep, crazed eyes hidden in the rain.

“A He, don't wander off. Let's go home.”

Reader Advisory:

#A character's values are not the author's values.

#Lu is obsessive and possessive, completely insane. She's a real lunatic!

Wen Chuihan and her wife, Chen Ningshi, have been in love for five years. But her wife's illness grows worse by the day, and her coughs stain half a handkerchief with blood. Hearing that the immortal sects have gathered beneath the Ninth Heaven, where spiritual energy can sustain life, she lifts her dying wife onto her back and climbs the nine-tiered staircase alone.

On the day the sect bestows a life-prolonging pill, Chen Ningshi finishes embroidering a protective charm for Wen Chuihan's chest. Her cold fingertips brush Wen Chuihan's fair cheek. “You must... take care of yourself.”

But when Wen Chuihan wins the competition and rushes over clutching the jade vial of immortal medicine, all that awaits her is a cold corpse.

Her wife died willingly to save her.

Hoping to obtain the fabled Life-Restoring Pill, Wen Chuihan severs her own heart meridian and fights her way into the secret realm so her beloved can live. But just as her bloodied hand is about to reach the gleaming pill, a sword wreathed in frost pierces her chest from behind.

As the last of her strength ebbs away, a breeze scatters the white veil of her hat, revealing the peerless face of the beloved who had been buried seven days ago.

It turns out her wife was no mortal. She was the aloof and noble Immortal Venerable from the Ninth Heaven.

It turns out everything had been a fleeting illusion granted to her by an immortal, like flowers reflected in a mirror and the moon's reflection in water.

It turns out she was merely an ordeal of love for the Immortal Venerable.

With the ordeal over, the Immortal Venerable had no further use for this pawn, who died at the hands of the wife she loved most.

Yet in her final moment before death, she was still worrying that her dirty hands might contaminate the pill and weaken its effects.

Chen Ningshi believed she was born only for the world and lived only for its people. Love and affection had long since faded away.

But when blood stains the edges of her shoes and the tassel on the sword that symbolized their love crumbles to dust, crimson veins suddenly spread across her eyes.

The Immortal Venerable, once free of desire and emotion, develops a heart demon at the very moment she kills her Dao companion.

Theme: Love life, love yourself.
