[Bold, straightforward female school bully x aloof, sickly top student]
[Girl pursues boy, redemption story]
Lin Ran was being reprimanded in the teachers' office when she spotted a new transfer student. Thanks in part to her efforts, the transfer student ended up sitting next to her.
The transfer student was a boy: tall, fair-skinned, handsome, neat, and good at studying, too.
Lin Ran thought he would make the perfect boyfriend.
The homeroom teacher's original plan was to have Lin Ran improve her grades by sitting beside her new classmate and being influenced by him. After a while, the teacher noticed some improvement, but there was a new problem as well.
So the homeroom teacher wrote this in their work notebook:
Good news: Lin Ran has kicked her bad habit of playing on her phone and sleeping in class.
Bad news: Now Lin Ran spends class staring at her new deskmate.

Jian Yi heard all about Lin Ran on his first day at the new school.
A female school bully who could take on three people and win, and was even more fearsome than the boys.
Jian Yi had no intention of getting involved with someone like that, but somehow he ended up sitting beside this female school bully.
He thought Lin Ran would pick on him in every possible way.
Day one: He received a pile of snacks.
Day two: He received a love letter copied from Baidu.
Day three: Lin Ran got into a fight for his sake.
Jian Yi: ...

Lin Ran always thought that her classmate and future boyfriend was too softhearted. He would agree to anything people asked him to do, just because he was too nice to say no.
So she decided to protect Jian Yi properly and make sure nobody bullied him.
When she heard someone was giving Jian Yi trouble after school, Lin Ran rushed over, only to see a bunch of thugs in plain clothes lying beaten on the ground.
The boy in a neat school uniform crouched down and took a small Swiss Army knife from one of the thugs.
Before Lin Ran could stop him, she saw Jian Yi run the tip of the knife across the back of his hand.
When he saw Lin Ran, the smile at the corners of his mouth had not yet faded.
He stood up and walked toward her, step by step.
He said, "Lin Ran, this is the real me."
