Why Hasn't My Husband Died Yet?

The third daughter of the Xu family fell seriously ill the year she came of age. From then on, she was bedridden, looking ready to breathe her last at any moment.

No one wanted to marry a woman like that, so even after turning eighteen, Third Miss Xu remained unmarried.

The second son of the Yongning Marquis was frail and sickly from childhood. Only a miracle doctor summoned from the southern frontier by the marquis kept him alive long enough to reach adulthood.

As Second Young Master Qin's health worsened and he seemed unlikely to last much longer, his family decided to arrange a wedding to bring him good luck.

The marquis's family wouldn't consider anyone of too low a status, while no family of high enough status would marry their daughter to such a sickly man. After looking around, they settled on the Xu family.

The two families reached an agreement at once. Third Miss Xu and Second Young Master Qin would marry. It didn't matter whether the wedding brought him good luck. It would be nice if they had someone to accompany them on the road to the underworld.

The "frail" Xu Ying was pleased to hear that Second Young Master Qin had at most six months left to live.

Once Qin died, she would be a widow, free from the Xu family and with no need to worry about anyone discovering her secret.

But she waited and waited. Six months passed, then a year. Why was her husband, who had only one breath left, still not dead? Was he going to keep breathing forever?

Meanwhile, the "frail and sickly" Qin Xuan was also waiting for Third Miss Xu, who wasn't long for this world, to breathe her last. But he waited and waited, as spring flowers bloomed and withered. Why was his wife, who only had a few months to live, still perfectly fine? Was she taking an awfully long time to die?
