It took Wei Wuxian eleven years to break through the cursed city within Mount Tonglu and become the fourth Supreme Ghost King in the world, as well as the first to escape Mount Tonglu with his entire family in tow.

The founder of the ghostly path returned to the world as a Ghost King. Beneath a cold moon on a frigid night, he played a solitary tune on his flute, drawing all the ghosts to pay homage. His appearance shook the four corners of the world and caught the attention of the Heavenly Court. Yet when the celestial officials descended to investigate, they could find no trace of the Ghost King.

At that time, the Four Calamities of the ghost realm had all taken their places, but Green Lantern Night Roaming was not a Supreme. Some officials suggested adding this newly emerged Ghost King to their ranks, or simply replacing the Green Ghost, so the four great demons who plagued the world would truly be equals. Yet for the next hundred years, no word of the new Ghost King reached heaven or earth. His name, appearance, and territory were unknown; there were not even any rumors. He was even more low-key and elusive than Black Water Sinking Ships, who had appeared six hundred years earlier, as if the cold moon, solitary flute, and weeping ghosts had been no more than a strange illusion. With no other option, the non-Supreme evil ghost Green Lantern Night Roaming remained among the Four Calamities.

A hundred years later, the Crown Prince of Xianle, who had ascended twice and been banished twice, made his spectacular third ascension.

A crossover between The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heaven Official's Blessing, both following their original timelines. Lan Wangji from the original work x Ghost King Wei Wuxian. In the early part, set in the Heaven Official's Blessing era, Lan Wangji does not appear, and the only pairing is Hua Cheng and Xie Lian. In the middle and later parts, the story returns to the era of The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, with only WangXian and HuaLian as pairings. XuanLi stays together, but has few scenes. No other pairings.
