Tales of Strange Happenings

A new kind of humanoid monster suddenly appeared in this world. Each bore some feature or other of a nonhuman creature, and people called them "monsters."

These inhuman creatures seemed to be born enemies of humanity.

Then a manga appeared out of nowhere, telling the story of humans and monsters from a thousand years ago, and public opinion about the monsters changed overnight.

From then on, these humanoid monsters had a new name: "youkai."

The story about humans forming bonds with youkai was called Strange Tales.

[Great Green Snake]

"I used to hate humans because the first human I ever knew took the life of my own kin."

"But as time passed, that hatred slowly faded, or perhaps settled into something else... It became something more complicated, yet it can still make me cry."

Even now, this Great Green Snake, who can summon wind and rain, still feels sorrow over a memory.

"My kin, where are you now?"

[Carefree Butterfly Immortal]

"Power and wealth were once the things I despised most, but those very things took my dearest friend from me with ease."

The Butterfly Immortal sat on the windowsill, swinging her legs and smiling.

"So I thought, why shouldn't I become the master of these two things?"

"If the things that murdered my friend were to bow at my feet from now on, I'm sure she'd be happy, wouldn't she?"

The immortal who slew the dragon cut off its head, took the dragon's throne, and coldly declared to all living beings:

"Submit to me, or raise your swords and fight back!"

[Youkai of Treasures]

"Nothing in this world is brought with you at birth or taken with you in death."

"No love lasts forever unchanged."

The treasure-laden youkai said gently:

"Rather than giving your love to someone else, give it to yourself."

"My beloved, you deserve more, and better, treasures."

The scales of good and evil have tipped, and the human world has become synonymous with hell.

Good people cannot survive. Their only choices are to fall into evil or die.

Fang Qiu stood at the highest point, looking down over this city of sin.

It's all right.

She thought.

She, Fang Qiu, was best at persuading people to choose good.
