I Really Didn't Want to Eat Tang Monk's Flesh [Journey to the West]

Lu Zhilin woke up one day to discover he'd become the White Deer Minister in Journey to the West, the one who throws his weight around in the Kingdom of Bhikshu. In the future, he'd capture a bunch of children and cut out their hearts and livers to use as medicinal ingredients, only to have Sun Wukong beat him back to his original form with a single blow of his staff.

Lu Zhilin's vision went black.

Couldn't he have been given a better character to transmigrate into?!

There's no good ending when you go up against the Great Sage Equal to Heaven!

Lu Zhilin was just about to leave the Antarctic Immortal's service and cling to the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, only to be told that Sun Wukong had already been crushed beneath Five-Finger Mountain by the Tathagata Buddha.

Lu Zhilin: ...

Lu Zhilin secretly went down to Five-Finger Mountain to deliver peaches to Sun Wukong, run errands for him, and chat about gossip. His service was impeccable.

That is, until Tang Seng arrived.

Only then did Lu Zhilin leave, reluctant to go.

He also made Sun Wukong promise, over and over, never to forget their brotherly bond.

Later, the Antarctic Immortal decided to choose a fawn to go down to the mortal world and play the villain.

Lu Zhilin eagerly volunteered, being more enthusiastic than anyone. In truth, he was thinking: Whoever wants to be a stumbling block can do it. I'm not doing it. I'm going down to enjoy myself!

Once he arrived in the mortal world, Lu Zhilin spent every day eating, drinking, and causing mischief. From time to time, he also got in touch with the powerful connections he'd made back in Heaven to keep their relationships warm.

It wasn't that he didn't trust the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. It's just that you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket!

Until one day.

Lu Zhilin's little yaoguai underling brought him a monk.

Before Lu Zhilin had time to think the monk looked familiar, he heard the classic line: “Your Majesty! I hear eating Tang Seng's flesh can make you immortal! We caught Tang Seng for you!”

Lu Zhilin: ...

“Your Majesty! This is bad! There's a monkey outside the cave! He's brazenly threatening to tear down our mountain!”
