It’s Storytelling, Not Stand-Up Comedy!

Sun Liangliang binds himself to the Intangible Cultural Heritage System and transmigrates into the body of a down-and-out storyteller in a Republic-era teahouse.

His mission is to revive traditional storytelling, but his rewards are a book of tongue-twisters and "Three Hundred Ways to Play the Straight Man." The audience, munching sunflower seeds below the stage, slap the tables and roar with laughter. "What a star! Give us another solo comedy routine!"

To earn points, he steels himself and turns The Stolen Robe into a storytelling tale, even making up risqué father-son jokes for a warlord.

The warlord who came to see him is sitting in the front row, listening to jokes about himself.

Warlord: "If you love calling someone Daddy so much, come call me that in bed."

Later, the Shen Bao newspaper runs the headline:

"Shocking! Tianqiao storyteller hijacks the comedy scene's signature routine. The man in question says he was only practicing a tiny bit of cross-industry expertise."

(A sharp-tongued warlord x an intangible-heritage disaster. The storyteller gets so carried away he even ruins his own punchlines.)
