It's Not My Fault You Made That Up

Xie Ci was just an ordinary doctor until, for some inexplicable reason, a System summoned him into the world of a comic. It tasked him with making the story more exciting, helping the mystery manga Dark Beacon become a hit, and turning himself into a popular character.

He planned to join the cases as an outside police consultant, secretly spicing up the plot and boosting his own popularity. But somehow, he found himself going further and further down the path of a villain.

In a murder case, he only wanted to give the police a lead so they could catch the real killer, but they mistook him for a thrill killer and hauled him away in handcuffs.

During a bizarre incident, he simply did what he would normally do, yet somehow ended up being branded the mastermind behind it all.

Xie Ci doesn't understand why his popularity in the comic keeps rising, but he's happy about it.

But even when Xie Ci merely smiles at his climbing popularity, the people around him start trembling as they file their reports.

"What scheme is Xie Ci plotting now?!"

Even so, nothing can stop Xie Ci from providing the police with clues to solve cases. Sigh, what can he do? He's just an ordinary, helpful citizen. It's not his fault people interpret him as a big shot, and it's certainly not his problem if they imagine him as a villain.

As for whether any of this is deliberate on his part, well...

"You tell me. Am I really acting?"
