The Snow Outside the Window Just Stopped

After a job transfer, variety show producer Chen Xue gets stranded on a snowy mountain. Just when she thinks she'll die there, a man appears on horseback like a god.

In the subzero weather, Ye Lin wears the plainest black robe worn by the locals. Snowflakes swirl down and land on his head and shoulders, melting instantly.

He stares at her, his handsome, holy face devoid of emotion, cold and unapproachable as the snow itself. Yet he takes off the only warm scarf he has and wraps it around her head, lifts her onto his horse, and takes her back to the inn.

He looks like a pure, innocent, easy-to-fool little white flower. Chen Xue decides what Ye Lin is like in her mind, then starts looking for every opportunity to stick close to him.

Chen Xue: "Every time I'm around you, something goes wrong. I must owe you a debt from a past life. Give me a chance to repay you, okay?"

Ye Lin agrees with a cold expression. By day, he takes Chen Xue into the mountains to pick up trash. At night, he lets her sit beside him and read Buddhist scriptures with him.

That's not the kind of repayment she had in mind, thanks. Chen Xue tries to be direct. "This is too slow. Is there a faster way I can repay you?"

Ye Lin looks straight at her. His usually placid eyes become deeper and more unfathomable than the lake outside the temple. Chen Xue panics and wants to take back what she said, but then he nods.

The two naturally get together.

Then they break up before Chen Xue is transferred back.

A week later, the station gets a new director, who takes over all of Chen Xue's projects.

Everyone burns incense on Chen Xue's behalf and warns her that, by all accounts, the new director is ruthless and decisive, a cold-hearted man who shows no mercy. Working under him means getting yelled at until you cry at best, and being driven mad at worst. There's no getting out unscathed.

Chen Xue doesn't take it seriously. On the day she goes to report on her work, she sees the upright man in a suit behind the desk and freezes.

Ye Lin taps the edge of his coffee cup. A restrained, brooding smile spreads across his holy face. "I've come to collect my debt. How would Producer Chen like to repay it this time?"
