Whisper in My Ear

Gu Qian has had Jiang Shen on her mind for years. She finally transfers to his school, only to discover that the former straight-A student always has one subject he fails.

She thinks he really doesn't know the material, so she looks for a chance to get close to him and diligently tutors him, hoping he can get better grades.

She doesn't dare entertain any other thoughts about someone who feels both familiar and like a stranger.

But rumors about the two of them are spreading everywhere.

Gu Qian doesn't want Jiang Shen to be misunderstood, so she explains herself a little too earnestly and accidentally lets some of her true feelings slip: "Jiang Shen and I spend time together because I'm tutoring him. He always wears a mask, so I don't even know what he looks like. There's no way anything could happen between us."

Those words reach Jiang Shen's ears.

Later, Jiang Shen corners her with a perfect test paper in his hand.

"Do you think I wait for you after school every day just to listen to you teach?"

Gu Qian clenches her fist and bites her lip, upset. Now she has no excuse to talk to Jiang Shen anymore.

Jiang Shen leans down, deliberately bringing the loop of his mask close to Gu Qian's eyes.

"Didn't you want to know what I look like?"

"Take off my mask yourself."

Gu Qian instinctively raises her hand, but before she can reach Jiang Shen, he grabs it.

The boy's ears are bright red, and his voice is more nervous than ever.

"Just so you know."

"Once you see my face, I'll hold you to it, and you'll be mine for the rest of your life."
