The Bright Moon in My Arms

I'm consumed by jealousy. I'm hopelessly gloomy.

Betrayed by friends and family, abandoned by my senior brothers and fellow disciples,

I eventually became a cripple with no cultivation at all.

Thinking back on his life, Tian Xi had gone from a prodigy to a nobody, only to end up hated by everyone.

The supposed reason was simply that his body contained the aura of the demon clan.

How ridiculous. He had never taken a life in all his years. He lost his cultivation saving others, yet ended up branded a harbinger of disaster.

Tian Xi knew that his whole life had been one absurd tale.

Now even stray dogs could take a bite out of him.

As he was hacked to death, Tian Xi realized he hadn't truly died. Instead, he had arrived in another time and space.

The him in that world hadn't gone through any of the things he had.

He had no demon blood, hadn't lost his cultivation, hadn't been abandoned by his fellow disciples, and hadn't ended up as wretched as Tian Xi.

He watched as the other man walked up to him, his expression tinged with curiosity. "How strange. I never imagined something like this could happen. You and I look exactly alike."

Tian Xi swallowed the bitter, jealous blood in his mouth and forced a smile. "What a coincidence. My name is Ling Yu. What about you?"

"Tian Xi."

He stayed by the side of the Tian Xi in this world, using Ling Yu's name.

He hated how Tian Xi was always kind to others. He hated how Tian Xi let his guard down around him.

He hated that Tian Xi stood in the light while he was like a rat in the gutter.

They were one and the same, so why were their lives so different? His twisted hatred changed into something else. He wanted to know what it would be like to take pleasure in a body like this.

When their souls merged, seeing the obsession in Tian Xi's eyes gave him a thrill of pleasure.

Only much later did he realize it wasn't hatred, but an extreme, obsessive love.

You deliberately tempt me, and I lose myself in it.

Don't leave me alone, standing high above. Don't leave me trapped in despair.
