The Whole Capital Thinks He and I Are in Love

Just before Rong Dai is due to marry her childhood sweetheart, who has always loved her deeply and insists he can't live without her, he elopes with Rong Dai's half-sister.

Rong Dai rides after him that very night. She just wants to ask one thing: What exactly does her half-sister have that she doesn't?

Just before Gu Juxing is due to marry the woman he loves, his fiancée runs away with a merchant.

He rides after her that very night, not because he wants to, but because his grandmother held a knife to his neck and forced him.

Late at night, in an ancient forest outside the city, lightning flashing and thunder crashing, their horses collide and both tumble down a slope dozens of meters deep.

Rong Dai breaks a leg.

Gu Juxing breaks an arm.

The rain pours down in sheets. Trapped there for two nights and one day, they become the people each hates most in the world. No contest.

After returning to the capital...

Day One: Have you heard? The third young lady of the Rong family was jilted, and by her own half-sister, no less.

Day Three: The third young lady is deeply in love. She chased after them in the rain, and her half-sister and fiancé broke her leg. She's lying at home now.

Day Five: There's a twist. Word is, the third young lady and the second young master of the Gu family had been secretly seeing each other for ages. Getting jilted at the same time was all arranged. We've all been fooled.

Rong Dai: ...

The rumors spread further and further. Rong Dai and Gu Juxing decide to set the record straight. After discussing it, Rong Dai returns home, where her grandmother tells her, "Being jilted is bad for your reputation. The second young master of the Gu family is accomplished in both literature and martial arts. I've already arranged a betrothal with the Gu family."

Rong Dai: ...How can someone who broke his arm when she gave him a little shove know martial arts?

Gu Juxing returns home, where his mother says, "The third young lady of the Rong family is gentle and refined. Since you were both jilted, it must be fate. Get ready to marry her in a month."

Gu Juxing: ...Gentle and refined? Does Mother know she sleeps curled up like a little crab?

Wait, are we still going to deny these rumors...?

Theme: Fate brings people together.
