I Won't Be the Crown Princess (Originally Titled: The Foolish Wife)

Yun Ci is the little fool of Muyun Town. Whenever she has nothing to do, she likes to visit the apothecary and play with Fu Hezhou.

The townspeople all laugh at Yun Ci. Though she's a fool, she still knows to marry a handsome man.

Then, after an accident brings Yun Ci and Fu Hezhou together, Fu Hezhou goes to the Yun family to ask for her hand in marriage. The townspeople stare wide-eyed. Yun Ci really did manage to trap him into marrying her.

Yun Ci wants to tell them: She didn't trap him. He's the one who clings to her every day. But she was born mentally disabled, like a little child, and nobody believes a word she says.

Then Yun Ci disappears one rainy night, and Fu Hezhou searches for his wife like a madman. Only then do the townspeople realize that Fu Hezhou is the one who can't live without Yun Ci.

Later, the townspeople ask: Has Yun Ci recovered from her disability?

Yun Ci nods at them. My husband cured me.

Later still, they discover that the person Yun Ci married is none other than the Crown Prince himself!!!

Yun Ci is troubled: Actually, I don't want to be Crown Princess.

The youngest daughter of the local prefect was kidnapped as a child. She was only found and reunited with her family after she had grown up and married.

But the prefect can't stand his son-in-law. He declares, "If you don't pass the imperial examinations, I'll make A Ci divorce you."

Not long afterward, the Crown Prince personally brings betrothal gifts to ask for Yun Ci's hand in marriage, to become Crown Princess of the Eastern Palace.

The prefect is willing. Yun Ci, however, is not.

A guide for readers:

The female lead is genuinely a fool at the beginning.

Some elements are author-invented.

There is a reason the male and female leads sleep together in the blurb.

The author's setting is that each time they sleep together, the female lead's disability lessens, and the male lead's "strange illness" improves.

Theme: Love her well for her sake
