The Long Road to Winning Back His Wife

Ruan Xiwan loved Xie Yuchen, but Xie Yuchen had been engaged to his childhood sweetheart since they were young. All she could do was watch them love each other while she suffered in silence.

The day before Xie Yuchen's wedding, Ruan Xiwan fled to a temple outside the city. She knelt before Buddha for an entire day and night, praying for his happiness, yet not wanting him to be happy.

Three days later, she returned to the capital, expecting to hear wedding celebrations, but instead learned that the Xie family had met with disaster and that his childhood sweetheart had taken the initiative to break off their engagement. Ruan Xiwan rushed to beg her father to save the Xie family, and, without a second thought, went to the Xie residence to find Xie Yuchen.

The Xie family escaped disaster, but was demoted and sent back to their ancestral home. The day before they left the capital, Xie Yuchen came to the Ruan family to ask for Ruan Xiwan's hand in marriage. Despite her parents' objections, she married him.

At first, Ruan Xiwan basked in the sweetness of being able to spend every day with him. Gradually, however, she realized that although he treated her with courtesy and respect, there was no love between them.

Ruan Xiwan thought that as his wife, she would eventually warm his heart and make him willing to love her.

But she had to admit that he still thought of his childhood sweetheart. He had married her only to repay her for all the trouble she'd gone to on his behalf, and because her father had helped the Xie family.

Over the course of three years together, the feelings Ruan Xiwan had cherished as a young girl were worn away. When the Xie family was finally exonerated and returned to the capital, Ruan Xiwan looked at her handsome husband beside her and decided she wanted a divorce. She would let him go back to his childhood sweetheart, and free herself as well.

Just as she was about to speak, Ruan Xiwan returned to the year she came of age. Everything between her and Xie Yuchen was yet to begin.
