The Client Gave Me a Bottle of Water

[Mature man and woman]

At the project kickoff meeting, Jiang Qiao talks at length, presenting until her throat is parched. The client representative sitting quietly in the front row casually hands her a bottle of water.

At dinner after the meeting, the client leaves early. Her colleagues whisper that this aloof beauty has been cold and rigid for years, someone to admire from afar but never to touch.

On her way home after the dinner, Jiang Qiao notices the warm lights already on in her apartment. Her phone vibrates, and she presses her lips together before answering. A man's deep voice fills her ear, its firm, unquestionable command concealed beneath the haze of alcohol. "Come upstairs."

Jiang Qiao looks up. The stern man from the daytime is now leaning on the balcony in a dressing gown, his figure tall and lean.

Their eyes meet, and her throat suddenly goes dry.

Reader's Notes:

1. Both leads are each other's first and only, one-on-one romance, happy ending.

2. A short, sweet romance.
