After the Ruthless, Ailing Beauty Failed at Rebellion

As the Marquis of Slaughter's Edge in the current dynasty, Xie Qingxun is frail and sickly despite his young age, yet he is the most vicious and treacherous man in the entire capital.

And that is the truth.

He is calm and cold-blooded, believing that so-called justice and kindness are nothing but foolishness, a failure to see the true face of this brutal world.

In his eyes, the young crown prince Xiao Yinli's pure and upright nature is the height of foolishness.

Yet the crown prince persistently and fervently draws close to him, offering him his whole heart.

Xie Qingxun sneers, deliberately forcing him to face the evil in human nature. Gripping the point of a knife, he cuts a bloody line across the young prince's chest. "If I were to take your life right now, Your Highness, what would you do?"

Xiao Yinli looks straight at him, smiling broadly. "I was the one who approached you. I was the one who wanted to grow closer to you, Tutor. Even if I die, it will be the result of my own choice. I won't let anyone cause you trouble afterward."

Xie Qingxun falls silent, then scoffs and turns away.

.

The young crown prince is kind, but not naive; passionate, but not foolish. His sincere heart burns with an almost unbearable warmth.

Only then does Xie Qingxun learn that a person really can be wrapped in warmth.

But in the end, they are not walking the same path.

Xie Qingxun's rebellion fails. He swallows a fake-death pill. On a lonely, frigid night, he looks like a porcelain-white doll shaped from wind and snow, except his pure white cloak is soaked in blood.

The young crown prince's eyes are red, his expression both tearful and furious. "Xie Qingxun! Didn't you say you wanted to kill me? Then come and do it! I don't want you to die. Get up and kill me!"

Xie Qingxun gives a soft laugh. "Your Highness, your tutor will teach you one final lesson today: the human heart will never bend to your wishes."

Three years later, an army surrounds a small courtyard in Jiangnan. With nowhere left to hide, Xie Qingxun sees a young man in imperial yellow step forward, a crazed smile on his face.

"The tutor was right. The heart won't bend to my wishes, but the body can." Xiao Yinli lifts his tutor's chin with his fingertips, stroking it affectionately. "Since that's so, we'll lock up your hands and feet and imprison you in the imperial palace forever."
