Big City, Small Cases (The Nineties)

In the sweltering heat of July, the apartment block next to the textile factory had lost power again.

Zhang Lang was jolted awake by the heat.

It was her second day after transmigrating to the 1990s. She lived in a cramped apartment block, where it was stuffy and hot.

The room was less than thirty square meters, with the kitchen and bedroom combined.

Even worse, the original owner had failed the college entrance exam, leaving her to choose between repeating a year and finding work straight out of high school.

"Langlang, where's your mom?"

She hadn't been seen for three days.

Zhang Lang went to report her missing. A police officer took her to the forensic examination room to identify a disfigured female corpse.

What?

Zhang Lang was shocked and bewildered. Her mom had only been missing for three days. It couldn't be that bad, could it?
