Lin Weixi broke up with her boyfriend. To help her get over the heartbreak quickly, her friend took her to a bar to check out the handsome guys.
They were only there to admire the eye candy, so how did it turn into a dare to see who would approach a guy?
"That guy in black is pretty good-looking, tall and slim. He's my type."
Her friend looked over at the table. A group of guys and girls who looked like college students were celebrating a birthday at the bar, and a game had everyone in high spirits. The guy in the black T-shirt sat right in the middle of the crowd, smiling casually at something someone had said.
Lost in the lively atmosphere, the girls at his table were sneaking glances at him, too. He really was a perfect ten.
"If you like him, go for it."
Weixi hopped off her bar stool, then, two seconds later, took one look at the guy and climbed right back onto it.
Of all the people, it had to be Zhou Rang, the guy she'd had a crush on in high school.
Weixi was crushed. Her unchanging taste in men had already led to one failure during the summer after graduating from high school.
That night, in the dim hallway of a KTV, she'd worked up the courage to confess to him, only to be rejected outright.
"Sorry, you're not my type."
So "having a crush" meant being brave enough to go to a bar and find a handsome stranger for a one-night stand, but not brave enough to say a single "Hi" to a certain someone.
But later, she still ended up sleeping with that certain someone.
Her friend asked, "How was your one-night stand?"
Weixi said, "Pretty good."
"Compared to your athlete ex, is he a lot worse?"
She'd really wanted to cast Zhou Rang as her pure, unattainable first love, but, well...
"Worse? He's way more intense."
"Then isn't there a good chance he'll become your boyfriend?"
"Absolutely not!" Lin Weixi declared firmly. "I'm not his type."
"If you're satisfied with him in bed, what happens if your next boyfriend can't measure up?"
Oh, right. She should probably end things and tell Zhou Rang that he wanted to end it, too.
A week after they stopped contacting each other, Zhou Rang came looking for her.
"I heard you have a girlfriend now. I wish you both the best." Weixi spoke first. News that the school's heartthrob had started dating someone had been flooding their high school alumni group chat for the past few days.
"I know we need to keep our distance. Is deleting each other enough, or should we block each other, too?"
Fine.
Zhou Rang went home and updated his social media.
[A rose sat in my dorm room for a week and wilted.
I wanted to confess, but she blocked me.]
