The Wicked Young Lady's Witchcraft-Using Maid (Revised Edition)

The magic practiced by the great witch Lin Zhao was forbidden by the righteous path of the world. In the end, she was hunted down by the government and the Daoist sects working together. Fortunately, she had mastered the art of slipping away from her body with her soul. Her powers were gone, and only a lonely ghost remained. Reincarnated as a baby girl, she was sold to the Su family and became a maid to Su Huaiyu, daughter of the Grand Secretary and Minister of Revenue.

Su Huaiyu was a pretty face with little ability. Luckily, her maid Zhao'er was capable and always managed to help. Miss Su didn't mind giving Zhao'er the best treatment, at least as far as a maid could expect. She was somewhat jealous of the talented, and Zhao'er sometimes slacked off or disappeared, so she never hesitated to punish her. After all, a proper mistress had to balance kindness with authority.

Then one day, the Su family, once flourishing like a fire fed with oil and blossoms bedecked with brocade, collapsed with a crash. Miss Su lost everything, including Zhao'er, and threw herself into a pond. When she woke, she found Zhao'er in a country villa. Delighted, she called out to her, only to receive a cold reply:

"Don't call me Zhao'er anymore. There is no longer any young lady named Su Huaiyu in this world."

Su Huaiyu had gone from mistress to slave in an instant, and began to think more deeply about life. As the world moved step by step toward chaos and collapse, how could she win her freedom from the great demon?
