Ding Ning crawled out of a swirling void and learned that all the Evil Gods had been captured and sent to Jinjiang to be tops. The Evil God market was desperately short-staffed, and even though he had just been born, he had to fill in temporarily.
He could only stretch out his claws and painstakingly peer at the little people on one screen after another.
Evil God Onboarding System: See this poor, helpless human? You need to prepare a bed and some hot water for him, then help him spend a peaceful, sweet night in an infinite-flow world.
Ding Ning stared blankly.
System: ...Forget it. Then give him a golden finger!
Ding Ning immediately showered him with a string of items.
The next day.
Evil God Onboarding System: See this man, betrayed by his companions? You need to comfort him when he's at his most helpless, and thoroughly stir-fry...
Ding Ning stared blankly at the System, his underage tentacles swishing back and forth.
System: Stir-fry a plate of bok choy to help him regain his strength.
Ding Ning immediately ordered bok choy from the Evil God Royal Restaurant, stir-fried one hundred and eighty plates with his tentacles, and had them delivered into the infinite-flow world.
N days later.
System: You're a fully grown Evil God now. It's time to...
Ding Ning crouched in front of all sorts of infinite-flow screens, diligently showering them with rewards using his tentacles, helping all kinds of overpowered protagonists, pretty boys, and useless beauties clear their levels.
This one needed food, that one needed water. Ah, this one wanted his little tentacles rubbed, while that one asked for a hug to regain his strength.
Ding Ning, a model employee, waved his claws at top speed. "Coming, coming! Order placed, order placed! The water's here too!"
As for cuddles and hugs, Ding Ning thought for a moment, bought a pet transport service, gathered up his tentacles, and flopped into a cardboard box. Then he placed an order to mail himself.
System: ...Forget it. He's still a child.
N more days passed.
System: I can let you off the hook when it comes to working in bed for now, but you have to learn how to do romance! Otherwise, you'll never find a job!
The System tossed Ding Ning a copy of "One Hundred Cheesy Pickup Lines for Evil God Tops on Jinjiang." Squashed beneath the book, Ding Ning silently wriggled out from under it, then used all his limbs and tentacles to pick it up and study it carefully.
Evil God Onboarding System: All right, starting today, say every line in this book to the people on these screens. One line per person, once a day is enough.
Ding Ning said, "Okay," and began memorizing the first page, while looking for the best screen to use for his experiment.
Ten days later, Ding Ning finished the book, and the System tossed him another one: "Confessions of Love from Around the World, Past and Present."
*
One day, while Ding Ning was engrossed in watching the infinite-flow livestreams on hundreds of screens and occasionally sending rewards with his tentacles, one of the screens suddenly shattered.
A black-haired overpowered protagonist stepped out, and the other screens shattered one after another.
Ding Ning was so frightened that he shrank into his shipping box, wanting to mail himself off to hide with the golden-haired pretty boy.
The overpowered protagonist grabbed him and glanced at the countless screens around them. His voice was calm and unreadable. "So this is what you meant when you said you only liked me?"
Ding Ning was held too high in the air to reach the ground, and he wilted in fear. His mind raced as he recalled page seventy-nine of "Confessions of Love from Around the World, Past and Present," and hurriedly recited it with deep emotion: "Other men are just hotels! You're the one who feels like home!"
The temperature suddenly dropped another ten degrees.
Ding Ning couldn't help thinking that the book the System had given him hadn't solved his predicament at all...
Then inspiration struck. He picked it up without any instruction, pointed one little tentacle at the screens shattered across the floor, and screamed at the top of his lungs before the overpowered protagonist's sword could fall: "I won't watch anymore!"
Only then did the sword stop.
*
A day later, the overpowered protagonist finished his dungeon and slipped out of the screen again.
A little tentacle slapped onto his face just as he emerged from the screen and cried in a babyish voice, "Give a reward: an invisibility talisman..."
Before he could finish, the little tentacle suddenly snapped back. Too late: the overpowered protagonist caught it.
He looked around.
The hundred screens he had shattered the day before had broken into so many pieces that today there were four hundred screens.
Ding Ning was indignant, if not exactly justified. He trembled as he looked at the black-haired overpowered protagonist, who had broken out of another screen. His tentacles quivered. "Y-you increased my workload! I'm done!"
Theme: Work hard and devote yourself to your job, and you'll eventually be rewarded.
