Those Years I Was the Emperor of Heaven

After Yayu was knocked into the Weakwater, he remained a weak, pitiful, helpless spirit. Then one day, a mortal fished him out.

He immediately blew up. “Insolence! Do you know who I am, mortal?”

The mortal looked confused, then suddenly understood. “A fish?”

Yayu, an ancient divine beast, the Heavenly Emperor's favorite, and Zhu Long's beloved son, was kept in a bowl by a human.

Three thousand years later, the new Heavenly Emperor returned and brought Yayu back from the Weakwater. The immortals of Kunlun revived him.

Yayu took a closer look and realized the new Heavenly Emperor was that very same mortal!

He glared at him, refusing to yield even in death. “I won't recognize you as Heavenly Emperor.”

Di Jun was the one he truly loved!

This Hao Tian had stolen Di Jun's position, and Yayu felt so bad for Di Jun that he went to Zhu Long to complain.

Zhu Long: “...The Heavenly Emperor is the Heavenly Emperor.”

When Hao Tian heard about it, he merely smiled.

From then on, Yayu threw his weight around in Heaven. One day he blew up Grand Supreme Elder Lord's furnace, the next he ate Queen Mother of the West's immortal pills. The immortals were furious but dared not speak up, so they went to Hao Tian for help.

“Let him blow it up.”

“Let him eat them.”

The immortals: qwq This is spoiling him, Your Majesty! You can't do this!!

Many years later, the Monkey King escorted Jin Chanzi and wreaked havoc in the Dragon Palace. Yayu, in the Weakwater, bit him, and the Monkey King struck back with his staff, sending water surging a thousand feet into the air.

Yayu: “Oh no, I can't afford to mess with him.”

The Monkey King picked up the trembling little snake and went to Heaven to ask about him.

The immortals fell silent, their expressions impossible to describe.

Back in Heaven, Yayu's arrogance finally returned. He hid behind Hao Tian as the latter came out, pointed at the Monkey King, and shouted, “Stone Monkey!”

The Monkey King: “???” Where was the snake who'd just called him Great Sage Equal to Heaven?
