Beware, 'I' Am Not Human

Jiang Shuqing sensed danger.

A lot of strange things started happening around him. The fish at home died for no reason, and their bodies couldn't even be found. The cat he'd raised for ages suddenly stopped being affectionate, and no amount of coaxing could make it come near him. When he went downstairs to throw out the trash, the neighbor across the hall, whom he'd never met, started greeting him. And so on, and so forth.

Every sign pointed to a monster appearing near him.

Jiang Shuqing was scared. He believed the monster had originated in his company's dormitory, and wanted to escape. But scarier than the monster were the unaffordable rents, sky-high housing prices, and mortgages he couldn't take on.

So Jiang Shuqing decided to live with it.

The monster's appearances became more and more brazen.

It stood in the mirror, smiling at him with Jiang Shuqing's face. Then it emerged from the mirror, its icy chill wrapping around his ankles as it cupped his face and leaned down to kiss him. "Don't you want to... become one with me?"
