Synopsis:

Lin Daiyu's perspective:

Sometimes he would look at her strangely, too. If Baoyu hadn't still bickered with her as usual and cheered her up afterward, Daiyu might have thought he was possessed.

Baoyu also often told Daiyu to take care of herself and get more exercise. Before long, her health had improved considerably, and Baoyu no longer made her cry. Daiyu blinked, thinking that perhaps she and her father had been mistaken: Baoyu really was someone she could entrust herself to.

Later, when the Jia family fell into decline, Baoyu worked tirelessly for them. In a single night, he became a man who could hold up the sky, protecting the women and children of the household. Daiyu saw it all. The two worked together to support their own little family and shelter their sisters from life's storms, living in peace for the rest of their days.

Lin Ruhai's perspective:

In a dream, Lin Ruhai saw Baoyu behaving like a libertine. He instinctively felt that he'd entrusted his daughter to the wrong person, and as he lay dying, he couldn't help resenting the Jia family for deceiving him. Unfortunately, by then, regret could change nothing. He passed away with Daiyu's sobs ringing in his ears.

Perhaps Heaven took pity on him. After Lin Ruhai died, his soul did not return to the underworld. Instead, he followed Daiyu to the Jia family…

Jia Baoyu's perspective:

When he heard that Cousin Lin was back, Jia Baoyu jumped up with joy. But before he could enjoy himself for long, he checked his messages and discovered a "Ghost Uncle" beside him whom only he could see.

Ghost Uncle was much like Cousin Lin: he knew poetry, music, social etiquette, and everything in between. But he was incredibly strict when teaching Baoyu, and Baoyu couldn't even complain to Grandma.

Over time, Baoyu started throwing tantrums and wanting to give up. Even his father had never kept such a close eye on him. He'd even had the "wicked" thought of asking Grandma to find a Taoist priest to drive the ghost away.

Even so, after throwing his tantrum, Baoyu would dutifully return to his studies with Ghost Uncle. His uncle had told him that only by studying hard could he become someone Cousin Lin and the girls in the family could rely on.

Despite all that, Jia Baoyu still hated studying. He didn't like it, but he tried hard to do the things he detested, learning to grow into a responsible man who could shoulder his duties. He didn't want the girls in his family to end up like the unfortunate women he'd seen. Most importantly, he wanted to become Uncle Lin's son-in-law and marry Cousin Lin.
