The Cannon Fodder Extra Awakens and Lives Up to His Name

20250610

Zhang San is a cannon-fodder passerby in a book. One day, she awakens and the System comes knocking, assigning her to correct the plot's deviations by making the villain go through a difficult storyline at a specific time.

Good news: The villain is delicate, frail, and easy to push over. She can reason with him and appeal to his emotions, so it should be no problem.

Bad news: The villain she meets doesn't seem quite right.

The villain, Shao Ye, has long been fed up with his playboy father, his love-addled mother, his grandparents' favoritism, and his idiot uncle.

Shao Ye: "Where did you come from, you idiot? Dragging me away in broad daylight. What are you plotting?"

Zhang San: "!!!"

She waves her hands frantically, shocked, trying to explain herself: "Don't be ridiculous! I'm not an idiot. I just got the wrong person!"

Shao Ye: "...That's a very sincere explanation. It would be more convincing if you took the tape off my hands."

Feeling guilty, Zhang San sends Shao Ye back as soon as the mission timer runs out, then makes a hasty escape.

After completing the mission, Zhang San collects her bonus and breaks free of the plot's constraints. She happily sets off to travel the world, but only a few carefree days later, Shao Ye finds her, dark circles under his eyes as if he hasn't slept in ages.

"Why haven't you come looking for me?"

Zhang San: "???"

A lawless heroine x a hero who's fine with living, but just as fine with dying

Bonus Scene:

Shao Ye: "We've known each other for so long, and you still haven't told me your name."

Zhang San (eating with her head down) struggles to answer: "My name is Zhang San."

Shao Ye: "?"

Shao Ye sneers: "You don't have to lie to me. I never really planned to arrest you. That name you made up is way too obvious."

Zhang San looks at Shao Ye in confusion, takes out her ID card, and points to herself: "Me. Zhang San."

Shao Ye: "???"

Wait, there really are people named Zhang San!
