A Misguided Scheme: Kneeling Before a Jianbing Stall, Unable to Get Up

Today is the forty-fifth day Li Yishi has pretended to be poor while buying jianbing guozi. He's planning to confess to Wang Suiyu, the little boss who sells them.

Over those forty-five days, his love for Wang Suiyu has grown from love at first sight into deep devotion. He loves Wang Suiyu's looks, but treasures his inner beauty even more. He wants to carry Wang Suiyu home and have his way with him.

At first, though, he worried that revealing too soon that he was rich would affect how Wang Suiyu felt about him. What if the other guy only wanted his money and didn't love him? So he pretended to be poor to get close to Wang Suiyu. At the very beginning, he even acted so destitute that he couldn't afford a jianbing guozi, and kindhearted Wang Suiyu gave him one for free.

Who knew that playing the part too well would backfire? Wang Suiyu thinks he's too poor and refuses his confession:

Reason one: "You're too poor. I can barely support myself. Why would I support you too? You eat a lot and you're so demanding. I'm not an idiot."

Reason two: "Besides, I don't think your interest in dating me is pure at all. Maybe you just want to scam me out of my jianbing guozi? Saving seven or eight yuan a day adds up to at least three thousand a year. You're pretty good at doing the math."

Reasons three, four, five, six, seven...

Li Yishi's heart is shattered into pieces.
