[3K Words in the Bank] Death Countdown

[Complete manuscript in progress]

When He Ying woke up and opened his eyes, a cold, mechanical voice rang in his mind.

[Hello, dear victim. Your death countdown is 72 hours. Please prepare to die.]

He Ying: Huh? Is something wrong with you?

He Ying thought he was hallucinating and didn't take it seriously.

Seventy-two hours later, a runaway truck came barreling toward him.

He Ying: Holy crap, I'm really going to die!

The truck sent him flying, separating his head from his body before crushing him to a pulp.

When he opened his eyes again, the cold, mechanical voice rang out in his mind once more.

He Ying: "Was I dreaming just now?"

He headed for the bathroom to splash some water on his face and calm down.

The TV was airing the morning news: "Last night, a man was crushed to death by a truck. According to eyewitnesses, the scene was horrifying..."

The news then showed photos from the scene. The shoes and bag were his.

He Ying: "Shit!"

Did I really freaking die?

A woman came out of the kitchen and shouted at him, "Jiang Chuan, say one more swear word and see what happens!"

It seemed like if he said another word, she'd rush over and smack him twice.

He Ying: "...Who are you?"

Wait... this definitely wasn't my house!

He Ying rushed into the bathroom. A strange face stared back at him in the mirror.

Even more terrifyingly, he knew where the bathroom was, despite this not being his home at all.

The news outside continued: "The deceased was named He Ying, and was a medical intern..."

He Ying: I really did die?
