The Energy-Saving Boy Got Drained by Monsters Again Today

Synopsis One:

One day, the energy-saving-minded Oreki transfers to a seemingly warm and peaceful but not-so-quiet town. His orderly, gray daily life begins to shift in subtle ways because of a gentle boy who has ties to yokai.

Yokai, exorcists... Things that should never have had anything to do with him begin inexplicably intruding on his everyday life.

For example, a half-god lodging at his house, yokai who come to him with problems, and Cat Teacher, who is always teasing him... Not to mention an exorcist who keeps getting dragged into dangerous situations.

Oreki says his heart is exhausted. Every day takes far too much energy, and this is completely at odds with his energy-saving philosophy.

Does he really have to give up his peaceful life for all these troubles?!

No, he absolutely cannot give it up.

For the sake of saving energy, he'll give it everything he's got.

"Oreki, I'm sorry I caused you trouble again yesterday."

The very person who truly disrupts his daily life comes to stand beside him. His smile is so gentle it seems to reach into people's hearts, yet Oreki can always sense the loneliness hidden deep within.

As if bewitched by that smile, Oreki looks away and says coolly, "It's nothing. We got it sorted out, anyway."

This is the one person he can never bring himself to turn down.

Synopsis Two:

The yokai all know that if they run into trouble in Hachihara, they can ask two humans for help.

One is perceptive but aloof and distant; the other is powerful, keenly observant, and deeply loyal.

In their everyday encounters with yokai, the two boys taste the world's bitterness and warmth. On their continuing journey, they help the yokai find what their hearts desire.

One day, when a yokai asks what they desire, Oreki instinctively looks at the person beside him.

Their eyes meet. Neither says a word.

A smile appears on the face that is usually so unmotivated.

"What my heart desires has always been right here beside me."
