[Dream of the Red Chamber] The Heartthrob Keeps Pretending to Be Well-Behaved

*Please read the blurb and reader’s guide first. Because of a car accident in his childhood, Jia Huan lost both his parents at the age of seven, and he could never walk again. From then on, he never left the house, and his temper grew quite unpleasant as well. Unexpectedly, after waking from a nap, he found himself transformed into Jia Huan, the third young master of the Rongguo Mansion, who had been intellectually disabled since childhood. The boy was not only mentally impaired but also very fat, and his frail constitution left him sick for much of the year. “At least my legs work. I suppose this is the heavens showing me some kindness.” With that thought, Jia Huan began his new life with the Jia family at the Rongguo Mansion. Later, the Jia family servants discovered that after a serious illness, Third Master Huan was no longer foolish. He gradually grew thinner, becoming a completely different person from the one they had known. In the past, whenever people spoke of the Rongguo Mansion, the most remarkable thing was Jia Baoyu, born clutching a piece of jade. Now, whenever they mentioned the mansion, all they could think of was Jia Huan, dazzlingly beautiful and utterly ethereal. Everyone knew that his merits went far beyond his looks. His character and virtue were also exceptional, and his relatives and elders all praised his docility and endearing nature. Aside from his frail health and constant need for medicine, he seemed almost perfect. That was how most people saw Jia Huan. At first, Jia Huan only wanted to give himself and his mother a better life. Whether he behaved sweetly and obediently in front of the old lady, studied diligently in front of his father, or showed care and consideration toward his siblings, it was all just a means of winning people over. Later, he realized that this complicated, sprawling family was not all good, but neither was it all bad. As time passed, the more than ten years he had spent confined to a wheelchair grew hazy in his memory. Perhaps living this way was not so bad after all. He had siblings, younger relatives, and close friends. The things he had lacked most in his previous life were all here in abundance. He had a second older brother who said and did silly things, a younger cousin Lin with a brilliant mind and a gift for poetry, as well as Third Sister, Sister Bao, Sister Yun… His temper was still bad, and his personality remained peculiar. But he now had Xue Xuan, who knew him completely and still indulged his every whim. Xue Xuan had a particular passion known only to those close to him. Ever since he was nine, he had been fascinated by collecting rare and wondrous treasures from around the world. The more dazzling and intricately crafted they were, the happier he felt when he looked at them. But as he saw more and more, his heart gradually grew numb, until the year he turned sixteen, when he saw Jia Huan at the Rongguo Mansion. Beautiful bottom x gentle top Important reader’s guide: ① The bottom has a universally adored quality and is frail and frequently ill. If this character type isn’t for you, please stop reading. ② Neither lead is perfect. The romance is slow-burn at first, one-on-one. ③ Baoyu and Daiyu’s pairing will remain intact. The story mainly focuses on everyday life. ④ Please don’t compare this to any real historical dynasty. Historical nitpicking is not welcome. Very important: This derivative work differs from the original in some respects. Please keep the discussion friendly, mwah ^o^ There are lots of original worldbuilding details. I’ll do my best to give the girls happy endings. Still an ordinary little sweet romance. This blurb was updated on January 5, 2024, and a screenshot has been saved. Theme: Life is short. Cherish the present.
