The Wind Gently Blows Across the Hillside

A wind power worker in the southwest VS a girl determined to leave the mountains

During the summer vacation of 2008, Li Manyue's stepmother grabbed her by the arm and dragged her to the roadside. Pointing at the man who had jumped down from the driver's seat of a truck hauling a giant white wind turbine blade, she urged her in a sinister tone, "Want to go to college? Ask him. He's got money..."

Manyue knew exactly what her stepmother meant. She glanced over, saw his thick, bronze-colored arms, and felt her heart skip. She quickly shook off her stepmother's hand and ran.

White wind turbines stood in rows on the slopes all around the mountains.

Yang Xiaosheng's colleague told him that the girl who had been coming up the mountain lately was pretty cunning. She had probably set her sights on him and wanted him to pay her tuition.

Yang Xiaosheng flicked the ash from his cigarette and glanced at the girl pretending to admire the turbines in the distance. He scoffed and said he wasn't that stupid.

Years later.

He thought he really had been stupid.

Not only had he spent his money, he'd also given up what little remained of his life...

A breeze drifted gently across the mountainside.

Through the trembling leaves, he happened to see...

A girl walking toward him with a bright smile.

A breeze, a storm, a lifetime.
