Voyage Journal

I wrote this back in middle school too. I'll copy it over when I have time.

This isn't a switch story. After Jinjiang updated, it assigned this tag on its own, and I can't even change it.

First person. The protagonist isn't perfect, but almost everyone likes them. Hehe, I'm a sucker for this stuff.

Synopsis:

After an accident, Earth's sea levels began rising at an incredible speed, drastically shrinking the land available to humanity.

Marine life, along with land animals, underwent mutations of varying degrees. Most of them developed some hostility toward humans, making humanity's situation even worse.

The same accident also brought a creature known as merfolk into the public eye at last.

Humans and merfolk are currently at peace, but humans are at a disadvantage.

There isn't enough land for humans to reproduce, so they can only build platforms in the sky, but that is far from enough.

Some people use merfolk to create an evolutionary drug that can extend human lifespans, strengthen their bodies, and grant them abilities beyond their natural limits.

Others experiment on merfolk, trying to create "humans" capable of living in the ocean.

But merfolk genes are too powerful. Every time, the only result is more merfolk with fish tails.

This time, my cousin came to me.

He said, "Minolan, I need you."

Ha! He actually wanted me to go looking for merfolk with him. Ridiculous. As if we'd ever find any!

I firmly refused, but then he tossed me a bag of gold.

Ha! A thunderous clap from the heavens, and your loyal servant makes a dazzling entrance!

And so, I set off on a sea voyage.
