How to Find a Boyfriend Who Won't Die in the Distillery

A messy, melodramatic, OOC love polygon. If that bothers you, don't read.

A revised long version. There's a short version next door.

After losing a boyfriend to death, Shenmu Xinye, who had grown up at the distillery, vowed not to let outsiders benefit from his love life. He would only look for someone inside the distillery, from the same world, whom he wouldn't drag down with him, who could help him heal from the trauma of his ex-boyfriend leaving, and who could spend the rest of his life with him.

But then...

His first boyfriend was an undercover agent, and died at the hands of his second “boyfriend.”

His second “boyfriend” died unexpectedly, and he never even got to see him one last time.

His third boyfriend broke up with him over text and promptly disappeared. When they met again, he was all lovey-dovey with another man.

Amuro Tooru, glaring at Okiya Subaru: ...?

Shenmu Xinye lit a cigarette. To hell with this world. He decided to shut his heart off for good.

The next day, he hooked up with Gin as a bedmate.

Shenmu Xinye sat on the edge of the bed and smoked. How depressing. Gin wouldn't be his boyfriend.

On the third day of Shenmu Xinye's vow to shut his heart off, the distillery's boss died. He sat on the bed, Gin stood beside him, and his three former boyfriends were at the door.

Looking at the three undercover agents who had made him shut his heart off, Shenmu Xinye finally lost it.

But that wasn't even the craziest part. The craziest part was that his first love, who had died young after being blown up by a bomb, was calling him right then...

Notes:

This trope is pretty common, but I'm still putting my own spin on it.

Warnings: OOC, messy relationships, 1v1 in certain stages, melodramatic love polygon, includes Gin as a disconnected former Soviet sleeper agent. No logic, very messy narration. The story may be revised or heavily rewritten. Please mind the warnings.

Theme: Live in the moment.
