You are a person.
Well, of course you're a person.
That's not the point.
The point is, you damn well don't want to be one.
Well, that's not the point either.
The point is, you really like cats.
In short, long story short.
One day, you, who don't want to be human, find a kitten.
All four of its legs are a strange purplish green. One paw has been viciously pierced by a wire. Its eyes are still green, but cloudy as the filthy gutters of Gotham.
You get it!
This is a kitten someone dyed and horribly abused.
You crouch down at once and try to lure it over: Here, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty.
The kitten tilts its head in confusion, then swipes at you hard.
Seeing your arm bleeding profusely, you feel happy.
The kitten is willing to scratch you. It actually wants to leave its mark on you. Oh my God, it loves you so much.
You immediately decide that kidnapping is better than adoption, and resolve to force it to love you.
And so, you have a cat!
You have a cat!!
You have a cat!!!
Even though your kitten goes crazy every day, bites you at the drop of a hat, and sometimes stares at you with strange, unfamiliar eyes when you get up in the middle of the night, making you wonder if it's trying to kill you.
But that's okay.
It's just a kitten!
What could a kitty possibly do wrong?!
You spoil your kitten rotten, so it acts like it can do anything it wants. You think it might consider you a pathetic pushover, but that's okay. Everyone is a pushover in front of a cat.
Until one day, quite, extremely, absolutely not on purpose, you kill someone right in front of your kitten.
Your kitten suddenly goes quiet, becoming docile and well-behaved. It stays that way for days.
!
Where is your wild, unruly kitten?
You kill people, not cats!
So you frantically shake your kitten's soft, cuddly body, crying and begging it to treat you like it used to. Scratch you, bite you, anything!
What is the point of a world without kitties?
Long live cats!
When your kitten scratches you with its claws once again, you shed tears of happiness.
Oh my God, it loves me so much!
Notes:
Not sure which point of view yet. I'll decide when I start writing.
The heroine is very strong, but she's not quite right in the head. The blurb should make it clear that something's off with her.
There will be lots of scenes where the heroine shows off her cat to other people (Deathstroke, Batman, whoever).
There may be romantic tension between the heroine and a normal human man, and there may also be cuddly, affectionate moments between the heroine and Harley or Poison Ivy.
The male lead is the Joker, but he'll be a cat for a long time (Cat Joker's position is unshakable, while human Joker's status has plummeted).
Not sure if this will be a bad ending, a happy ending, or an open ending.
