[Advance warning: Qin Shi Huang selfcest, younger top]
On the first day after dying at Sand Dune, Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng became bound to something called the System.
The System said it could help Ying Zheng come back to life. In exchange, he would travel to other worlds and harvest their fortune for the System.
The methods included, but were not limited to: raising a child of fortune, becoming the most important person in that child's heart, and using manipulation to make the child willingly hand over their fortune.
Ying Zheng reluctantly agreed.
After a dizzying spin, Ying Zheng opened his eyes and saw a familiar sight: dilapidated homes and messy streets. In the distance, the wealthy rode past in grand carriages, kicking up clouds of yellow dust. On the roadside, beggars raised their skeletal hands, pleading for alms.
Ying Zheng remembered this place. It was Handan in the State of Zhao, where he had lived as a child.
At the same time, a young and wary voice spoke in his mind. “W-who are you?”
Ying Zheng's heart skipped a beat. That voice sounded exactly like his own when he was young!
A little while later, the System spoke: “Beep! Error! BUG detected! Mission updated: Host, please work hard to repair the fortune leak. Otherwise, you will be forcibly sent back.”
So, in order to live again, Ying Zheng became the other half of young Ying Zheng's soul.
Every night, under the System's control, he would take over this long-forgotten body on schedule and do his best to improve the fortune of the other self living inside it, making plans on his behalf.
They could only separate again once the massive hole caused by the System's error had been filled with fortune.
The child grew into a boy, and the boy became a young man. His fortune gradually recovered.
In the fifteenth year of King Zheng of Qin, the realm was pacified, and the Six States were about to be united.
King Zheng of Qin became the one and only First Emperor of the world, with the fortune of all ages gathered in him.
Ying Zheng finally completed his mission and earned the reward of living again.
But just as the two souls were about to separate, a pair of hands, achingly familiar, caught hold of the fleeting soul.
In that moment, two pairs of identical eyes met, sparking a fierce flame.
“Don't go,” the young emperor said, his voice trembling.
Two figures in matching black robes clung tightly to each other. The twenty-four strings of beads hanging from their crowns collided with a clear, unnerving chime.
Their lips and teeth entwined.
He kissed the past. He kissed the future.
“Your Majesty... share the realm with me.”
