Becoming the Doomed Ex-Wife of the Heroine in an Imperial Exam Novel

Upcoming story, She Wants to Raise Me by Slaughtering Pigs. Blurb at the end~ Yan An transmigrated into a book, becoming the ex-wife of the heroine of an ancient imperial-examination novel. Before the ex-wife's elders died, they went into debt to help her marry a wife. But she looked down on her, thinking her crude and stupid, and unworthy of a scholar like herself. She treated her with cold indifference. Yet this woman was hopeless at housework and knew nothing about farming. The heroine had to manage the whole household, and even the rice the ex-wife ate was earned by the heroine's labor. Still, the ex-wife thought highly of herself and was determined to turn her life around through the imperial exams. In the end, after failing the exams, the ex-wife drank to drown her sorrows, accidentally fell into a pond, and drowned. The heroine, meanwhile, taught herself using the books she left behind, pursued the imperial exams, and became Heyun County's first female top scholar. Yan An: “Wow. What a shameless freeloader, and what an incredible heroine...” - Looking at the bare cupboards, counting their debts, and seeing two mouths to feed, Yan An clutched her chest in anguish, unable to accept this disastrous start. Passing the provincial exam would solve everything, but after opening the book and seeing what was inside, Yan An immediately shut it again and sincerely handed it to the heroine. “You do it. This stupid as a pig woman just needs to be your support.” “You handle your studies and the exams. I'll earn money and support the family!” Wen Ying, who had never once gotten a kind word from her, was speechless at the sudden change... - Yan An knew her bargain-bin wife was a woman with a shrewd mind. In the novel, the original Yan An was a shackle holding the heroine back. Only after she died did the heroine soar to greatness. The best Yan An could do was improve their household's circumstances, be a decent person and support her wife's studies, then, when the time was right, let her fly free. - Yan An abandoned her studies to go into business. She became a merchant, the lowest and most money-grubbing sort of person in the eyes of scholars, as well as the most glaring stain on the newly crowned top scholar's reputation. Yan An knew it was time for them to part ways. On the day they were to divorce, Wen Ying looked at the divorce papers in front of her. Usually calm and composed, she changed expression, a twisted look flashing in her eyes. She grabbed Yan An tightly and demanded through gritted teeth, “Are you divorcing me because you still can't let that person go and want me to make room for her?” Wen Ying shed her calm disguise and held Yan An captive, revealing the obsessive, jealous nature hidden beneath. “Yan An, I'm telling you, don't even think about it. You're only allowed to be with me!” Upcoming story, She Wants to Raise Me by Slaughtering Pigs Chu Yang had always thought she was a little unlucky, but she never imagined she'd be this unlucky. All she'd wanted was to hike across the xx line. Not only did she run into a wild animal, she was injured, tumbled down a slope, and transmigrated into a novel set in ancient times, becoming an unregistered nobody with no name or status... Ancient times? Could a modern person really live there? At least she was lucky enough to be rescued by a woman named Cheng Jiang'an, a butcher who slaughtered pigs, and the protagonist of the novel... - In the original story, Cheng Jiang'an was born with superhuman strength. Armed with nothing but a butcher's knife, she'd fought her way through mountains of corpses. Her fearsome reputation was enough to make children stop crying. But now... Chu Yang watched as she earnestly washed her undergarments, curling her toes in embarrassment... How had things ended up like this?! Wasn't she supposed to be a demon? Why didn't she seem scary at all? And then she even said... that the two of them could build a good life together?! - But according to the original story, didn't she have someone she loved? Chu Yang couldn't shake the strange feeling that she was getting between them. That feeling only grew stronger when she saw a sachet hidden deep in Cheng Jiang'an's wardrobe. Cheng Jiang'an wasn't good at embroidery, but in the original story she'd made a sachet by hand to give to the person she loved. Chu Yang quietly packed her things and left, but Cheng Jiang'an stopped her. Her calm, gentle eyes were full of pleading. “Please don't go. I can slaughter pigs. I'll slaughter lots and lots of pigs, and I'll be able to support you.” Later, Chu Yang decided that perhaps all the good luck she'd ever had had been saved up for the day she met Cheng Jiang'an.
