The Bandit Chief's Little Husband (Matriarchal Society)

Yun Ci is a bandit chief with a conscience and principles. During one raid, she inexplicably captured a man.

What kind of decent person hides in a box and doesn't make a sound while being carried up a mountain?

So a fair-faced man appeared in a stronghold full of female bandits.

Yun Ci tried several times to send him down the mountain, but he either played helpless or pretended to be deaf and blind. Whatever she did, he refused to leave.

What was even more surprising was that, despite being a man, he was literate and well-read, and volunteered to teach the bandits.

He opened a classroom in the stronghold, and it was packed every day.

Yun Ci stroked her chin and, under the bandits' pleading gazes, reluctantly nodded. "Keeping him here isn't so bad. He can raise your level of education."

The bandits: Don't think we didn't notice. Our chief is the first one to arrive every day just to claim a front-row seat, and she practically can't take her eyes off the teacher.

Ji Huaizhi studied the classics so diligently because he wanted his mother to see how hard he was trying, and to be able to help with the family business just like his older sister.

But what came instead was a marriage contract. When he refused, they forcefully dragged him into a carriage.

He escaped, only to be caught and brought back. His mother went even further, tying up his hands and feet and locking him in a wooden box.

In despair, Ji Huaizhi wept until he had no tears left, consumed by grief and resentment.

When the pitch-black wooden box opened again, the sunlight revealed a delicate face with raised brows, looking disdainful and faintly disappointed.

Ji Huaizhi's heart thumped. All he knew was that the sun had been bright that day, and that his eyes, nearly blinded from crying, began to shed tears once more.
