The little fool turned out to be pretty good at all sorts of things, like washing clothes, fetching water, and mending garments. Xia Jin let him stay, then went out to find work to support the extra mouth to feed in the household.

Who could have guessed that after eating his fill meal after meal, the scrawny little fool would gradually grow handsome? With rosy lips, pearly teeth, and a pair of clear eyes that always curved like little crescents, he was ten thousand times better-looking than the men in the village.

He was just a little stubborn. He'd pick up fluffy little animals wherever he went and bring them home. When Xia Jin forbade it, he'd secretly sneak them back, full of mischief.

He stopped acting like his usual silly self and clung to her with tears in his eyes.
