[Infinite] Penguin Thug

[A game of life, a deadly wager.]

Before bed, Qi E, as usual, left a message on her social media feed, earnest and very polite.

"If the world is going to end, please let it happen while I'm asleep. Thank you."

She slept long and soundly, dreaming of a towering clock tower beneath an immense, boundless starry sky. Before the tower, a girl stood with her back to Qi E, bowing reverently. Endless white veils cascaded from above, like a grand sacrifice.

In a daze, Qi E thought, If only I could see what she looks like.

Her eight o'clock alarm did not go off on time. Qi E opened her eyes amid ruins, the faint smell of blood lingering at the tip of her nose. She rolled over and found herself facing the pitch-black muzzle of a gun.
