When the Drizzle Falls

1.

“The first time I saw you was on the way to PE class. You walked toward me as the autumn breeze lifted your hair. Amid the drifting ginkgo leaves, you glanced my way.

The next time I noticed you was during evening study hall. The breeze was cool, and you handed me a bandage and a wet wipe.

Then there was the way you stayed calm during the monthly exam, settling down to distinguish the listening questions; how you came in third and seemed unsurprised, perfectly composed; and that evening when you patiently discussed how to solve the problems, with ideas even more concise than mine.

When I think about it, nothing particularly dramatic happened. But perhaps love at first sight is just the combined effect of all sorts of hormones. It's something I can't control.

In other words, falling for you was something my instincts had already decided.”

“Do you remember the definition of a set in your math textbook?

A collection formed by gathering together concrete or abstract objects that share a certain property.

So, if we define a fluttering heart as a set, then before I met you, it was an empty set.

After I met you, it gained an element: you. Any modifier can be placed before this ‘you.’ Any modifier at all.

As long as you are still you at your core, you belong in this set.”

“Your fragrance is as subtle as a hidden orchid” & “A warm tree on a forest isle, its soil bathed in light-years.”
