Picked Up by a Human Player [Infinite]

20230616

Zhou Mo is a half-human, half-demon NPC in an Infinite game, with a youthful face and tiny demon horns. Since his bloodline isn't pure enough, both demons and players look down on him. But one day, when demons attack him in the wilderness, a player unexpectedly saves him.

The player who saves him wears a mask and is full of murderous intent, yet clumsily helps clean his wounds. "I'm not really into fighting. If you don't mind, how about we just lie low together in this instance?"

A few weeks later, after they clear the instance, the player takes several steps toward the portal, looking back again and again. "Little guy, I'll come find you in the next instance. Then we can lie low together again."

Instances are entered at random. Zhou Mo doesn't believe the player will come back, but on the day the instance refreshes, he still secretly waits by the portal. He doesn't find the masked player, but he does spot a captivating man in the crowd.

When the man sees Zhou Mo, he conjures a bouquet from nowhere and reaches familiarly to touch the demon horns on Zhou Mo's head.

Zhou Mo is just about to fight back when he hears the player's familiar voice. "Want to lie low?"

Zhou Mo: "...Sure."

A few more weeks pass, and they clear the instance again. The player shows up in the next one, just as promised. They lie low together through countless instances, until one time Zhou Mo fails to find him waiting by the portal.

Other players say that Zhao Hengzhou, the first player to accumulate enough clears, has left the game for good.

After hearing that, Zhou Mo quietly walks back to the lawn where they used to lie around together. Before he can bury his face in his knees, someone grabs his demon horns again.

"Don't cry, little guy." Zhao Hengzhou smiles as he wipes away Zhou Mo's tears and draws the blade he rarely unsheathes. "I worked so hard to trade my clear count for a chance to return to the game. This time, no more lying around. I'll kill every monster and take you back to my world as my prize, okay?"

Zhou Mo lifts his tearful eyes. Black fog that could engulf heaven and earth rises behind him. "...Okay."

He was always the weapon of destruction in this world. It was only because someone once said he disliked fighting that Zhou Mo folded away his wings and claws.

Now that man says he wants to take him to his world. So what if Zhou Mo joins him in bathing mountains and seas in blood?
