Peerless Beauty

An entertainment-industry story, a play-within-a-play story, and a story about rising through the ranks. “I look ordinary, but I want to become a superstar, a superstar who shines brilliantly.” This was carved into a desk by fifteen-year-old Meng Kaiyan. At fifteen, Meng Kaiyan got a face-editing game. It was a special kind of face-editing game: the face she edited was her own. How long would it take to go from plain to pretty and fresh-faced? Three years. And from pretty and fresh-faced to breathtakingly beautiful? Another three years. But... when her looks became a burden to her work, when her appearance held back her creative ambitions, how long would it take to set her looks aside and reveal what lay within? Meng Kaiyan pondered. “Thirty years.” By then, Meng Kaiyan had won the grand slam three times. As the greatest actress of her era and a superstar renowned at home and abroad, she had dominated the film world for thirty years. This is a story about coming to terms with yourself. Theme: Beauty has no limits, but the heart needs boundaries.
