The Resource Darling Doesn’t Want to Be Famous

Please add this to your want-to-read list. The blurb is at the end. [I’ll stay calm and avoid reading comments while this is serializing. No real-life inspirations. The author’s ideas are unconventional, and I’m not responsible if your plot predictions turn out wrong.] [Important content warning: The heroine has never been aloof and detached. As an actress, she simply tends to speak her mind. As a director, she is an absolute tyrant on set. If this character isn’t for you, please leave now.] During an otherwise quiet period, a period drama that had never caught the fan community’s attention suddenly sparks a nationwide binge-watching craze. The heroine, whose character is exceptionally well written, had only appeared in one previous production. Some people once declared that a resource-backed actress like her, with her airs of superiority, would never become popular. Liu Ling: Thanks for the blessing. I never planned on becoming popular. Liu Ling’s works as lead actress/director, updated according to the story’s timeline: Filming began in 2016 "Zhao Xiaoying’s Journey to the City": Debut work / the heroine’s daughter "By the Water’s Edge": First leading role / annual ratings champion across national and provincial channels, with a 2.711% rating / First Best Actress award Filming began in 2017 "When the Summer Flowers Fade": First film / box office: 2.167 billion yuan / European Three Rivers City Best Actress "Jingshui Alley": One of the two female leads, a mother and daughter / annual ratings champion on two channels, with ratings of 1.587% and 1.562% Filming began in 2018 "Rebirth": Female lead / annual ratings champion on two channels, with ratings of 2.327% and 2.098% "Ten Farewells": Female lead / box office: 5.142 billion yuan Filming began in 2019 "Spring in Yongan": Female lead / currently airing "The Tilanqiao Case": Special appearance as the female villain / annual ratings champion on a satellite channel, with a 2.362% rating "Dawn": Female lead / not yet aired Filming began in 2020 …To be updated Content warnings: No real-life inspirations!!! The heroine and some female supporting characters will not be best friends. The male lead appears late, and there is a lot of filming and screenplay content. A supporting character is reborn, but this reborn supporting character cannot threaten the heroine. I Catch Slackers in the Entertainment Industry Zhao Jing is an award-winning assistant director in the industry, skilled at doing the directing for directors who have no idea how to make a film. Her online name is: Professional Stand-In. Her original dream was to work as a stand-in long enough to build up her resume, find a suitable fool, no, investor, and get them to fund her first project, one that could proudly list her as the director. But her dream was cut short before it could come true when Zhao Jing encountered an absurd situation unlike anything she’d ever faced in her career as a stand-in, no, director. The heroine runs away → the screenwriter runs away → the director gets arrested → the male lead runs away. Should I run too? Just then, Zhao Jing hears a voice. “New mission: Complete filming the project. The named cast must have a focus level of at least 90%, and extras and crew must have a focus level of at least 80%. Failure will result in punishment: watching one hundred terrible films. Refusing the mission will count as failure.” Zhao Jing refuses to accept this. “I’m not taking it. What are you going to do about it?” One second later, after experiencing the punishment, Zhao Jing regrets it bitterly. “I was wrong. I’ll do it, okay? Please give me another chance to start over!” Theme: Gold will always shine.
