Entrusting My Wife

Though Qin Yushu came from a humble background, she was breathtakingly beautiful and the woman General Huo had set his heart on.

General Huo went to great lengths to win her over, promising to host a banquet and make her his wife in a proper wedding.

But on their wedding day, Gu Jingyu lifted her red bridal veil and told her that General Huo had given her to him before leaving for the battlefield.

The dignified and refined Heir Gu had someone in his heart, but another man had gotten there first.

Then an imperial decree arrived, giving him his chance.

After seeing off his friend, Gu Jingyu lifted the veil of the woman he loved.

He calmly told her he would give her a proper wedding night, though inside he was beside himself with excitement.

General Huo Qingzhou received an imperial decree and hurried to the battlefield. He had no time to say goodbye to Qin Yushu, and worried that she had no one to rely on, so he entrusted her to his friend.

He said, "I don't know when I'll return from this journey. Let her wait for me for three years. If I'm not back by then, find her a good husband, or take her into your own household."

But when he returned to the capital two years later, his friend and Qin Yushu were already a loving married couple.

Huo Qingzhou's eyes reddened with anger as he went to demand an explanation from his friend.

But the Heir Gu answered with conviction, "Neither of us was married. Why couldn't I marry her?"

Huo Qingzhou knew Gu Jingyu was mocking him for already having a wife.
