Changing Partners: A Love That Depends on You

Jing Nian pursued Song Shiyu relentlessly for two years.

He was gentle, patient, considerate, and understanding. During their five years together, he always treated Song Shiyu with respect, giving him the courage to leave the nightmare of his past behind and start a family with Jing Nian.

But lately, Jing Nian had grown increasingly distant. He didn't reply to texts or answer calls, and he hadn't even gone to try on his wedding suit.

Then Song Shiyu caught Jing Nian cheating with someone else in the home they were meant to share.

It turned out that the only thing Jing Nian had ever loved was Song Shiyu's eyes, which were identical to someone else's.

Now that he'd found his precious pearl, he no longer needed Song Shiyu, the worthless imitation.

Song Shiyu sent him a breakup message, then blocked him everywhere.

Jing Nian thought he would be perfectly happy after the breakup. In reality, he couldn't forget Song Shiyu or let go of their past.

Then he discovered that the true love he'd believed in had been a lie from beginning to end. He'd been manipulated into cheating and breaking up, so Jing Nian excitedly went to ask Song Shiyu to get back together.

He thought that now the truth was out, Song Shiyu would come back to him.

But in the end, Song Shiyu got engaged to Jing Nian's sworn enemy.

Song Shiyu kissed his sworn enemy of his own accord, smiling at him with radiant warmth. Meanwhile, Jing Nian stood in a shadowy corner, looking like a miserable stray dog.

Synopsis: 1. Shen Xingci is a mono, born with a strikingly beautiful face and a beauty mark at the corner of his eye that makes people lose their minds.

He's an anonymous voice streamer who lives alone in a house with a small courtyard. He has a short-legged cat named Boss. After the tragedy that befell his mother, Shen Xingci grew to hate being a mono and vowed that he would never need a probe in his life.

One day, a new neighbor moved in next door.

Shen Xingci watched him from a second-floor window. He had a buzz cut, was very tall with long legs, and his muscles strained against his black suit. A scar marked the corner of his eye.

As Shen Xingci was about to leave, the new neighbor seemed to sense someone watching and looked up.

Their eyes met. Startled by the man's cold, sharp gaze, Shen Xingci instinctively clenched his fists.

That evening, the new neighbor knocked on his door and brought him a little cake he'd made himself.

Shen Xingci was holding Boss, who was usually shy around strangers. To his surprise, the cat rushed toward the man, sending Shen Xingci stumbling into his arms. Their skin touched, sending a tingling sensation through him. He hurried to apologize. "Sorry."

The new neighbor said nothing. Something shifted in his gaze, then he nodded and left.

2. Ji Yunzhou was once a peerless, valiant marshal of the interstellar forces. After retiring due to an injury, he became one of the heads of the First Research Institute.

A document he happened to read revealed the existence of monos and probes, and he scoffed at the innate bond between them.

Though he didn't care about it, he happened to hear the voice of a streamer his nephew followed, and felt an inexplicable flicker of something inside him.

While moving in, he sensed someone watching him. He looked up and saw a face of unparalleled beauty, and his heart jolted.

Hearing the other's voice ignited a madness deep in his bones. Worried that his surging possessiveness would show in his eyes, he left with feigned indifference.

That evening, he sat in the courtyard gazing at the stars, wondering how he could lure the man into his grasp.

During an attack, Ji Yunzhou rushed to save Shen Xingci and, for the first time, appeared before him without a mask.

Their eyes met, and for the first time, they experienced a color rush together.

3. With each color rush, their feelings for each other grew deeper.

Shen Xingci thought he would never become a paranoid madman like his mother.

Until one day, he discovered that he, his parents, and many other monos and probes were all test subjects at a certain research institute, and that his new neighbor was one of the institute's key directors.

Bonus Scene 1:

After their first color rush, Shen Xingci was torn by conflicting feelings.

Ji Yunzhou deliberately tempted him. "Xingxing, want to see colors again?"

"Deep blue is the color of the ocean depths, azure is the color of the sky, and there's cerulean, Alice blue, cornflower blue... Don't you want to see them all, Xingxing?"

"Call me big brother."

Shen Xingci blushed, his lashes trembling. "Big brother." Then he kissed him.

Bonus Scene 2:

Ji Yunzhou used his secret as bait to lure Shen Xingci into playing a game.

Blindfolded, Shen Xingci heard Ji Yunzhou say, "Xingxing, kiss my face."

Shen Xingci was sure he'd win, but Ji Yunzhou deliberately made him kiss his eye.

"Your punishment is to take off your shirt."

Ji Yunzhou then told him to kiss his lips. Shen Xingci thought the man would play a trick on him, but he really did get to kiss them.

Ji Yunzhou only let him go when his legs went weak.

"That's your reward," Ji Yunzhou said.

Notes: (1) The mono and probe setting comes from a Korean drama, a BL series. There are many original additions, which will be explained in the author's note to Chapter 1.

(2) There is a misunderstanding between the leads, but the top has never hurt the bottom.

(3) This is a new experiment, so feel free to give it a try.
