The Peddler's Daughter's Laid-Back Life in Ancient Times

Jiang Li transmigrates to ancient times and becomes a refugee.

Her mother takes her to a small mountain village to escape the famine, then remarries a local widower.

Her stepfather joined the army when he was young, lost an arm, and became a traveling peddler after leaving the service. He has a pension and no children, so his younger brother covets his money and insists on giving him a son to adopt. But instead, he turns around and marries a widow with a child.

The younger brother's family, furious that their scheme has failed, makes a scene and tries to drive Jiang Li and her mother out.

But they never expected that in this little family, the father would be fiercely protective and the mother calm and steady.

Their daughter, Jiang Li, doesn't take them seriously at all. She's focused on building a fortune, and starts selling all kinds of novel goods with her stepfather.

As the Jiang family's Third Branch carries on, they discover that Jiang Li's family hasn't just become peddlers: they've opened a big shop. Meanwhile, how did they end up getting kicked out of their own home!?

Jiang Youyu is the second child in the Jiang family's Third Branch, and has been considered ill-fated since childhood.

His parents dislike him. They try to have him adopted by his eldest uncle, but are turned down. They beat and scold him, blaming him for not knowing how to curry favor.

His eldest uncle tells him: A good man sets his sights far and wide. Having few ties with your family isn't necessarily a bad thing.

His eldest aunt sews him new clothes and cooks him warm meals.

His young cousin Jiang Li teaches him to read and write.

He thinks, If only I could become my eldest uncle's son. If only I could be part of A Li's family.

In the end, both of those wishes actually come true...

(They share only sibling affection before adulthood.)
