An Ordinary Office Drone Working in a Bizarre World [Infinite]

Please add my upcoming book, I'm a Fierce and Adorable Animal, to your to-read list. Thanks!

After ten years as a veteran corporate drone, Bai Ye finally saved enough money to buy a secondhand RV and set off on a budget trip around the country.

"The world is so big. I want to see it."

But as soon as he drove onto the highway, he collided with a freight truck.

The truck driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, and Bai Ye and his RV were crushed into a meat patty.

"Welcome, wage slaves, to the Strange World. Save up enough Life Points to redeem a resurrection ticket. Now, let the show begin..."

[Food Delivery Errand Instance]

In the order hall, a group of veteran players would rather pay to stay behind than take any orders.

Player 1: "The elevator keeps breaking down. Every time the lights go out, something breathes down my neck. It reeks of rot."

Player 2: "Don't take orders from the upper floors. The stairs are always broken. If you climb up, you're done for. The stairwell is bright red."

Player 3: "Don't take orders from old, run-down buildings. They're either all black or all white, and the person ordering food is lying in a coffin."

Each delivery earns one hundred. One hundred can be exchanged for one Life Point. If he takes a hundred orders, won't he be reborn?

Bai Ye: "I'll take it!"

[Housekeeping and Cleaning Instance]

The veteran players team up, four or five to an order, and earn only a few dozen per job.

Player 1: "Never go clean a place alone. Absolutely not!"

Player 2: "The sky is bright, but the room is dark. The windows can never be cleaned, and they're all red."

Player 3: "Anything could be inside the drawers. Broken things, all of them broken!"

If he takes orders alone, won't he earn four or five hundred for sure?

Bai Ye: "I'll take it!"

[Early Morning Street Cleaner Instance]

[Late-Night Office Instance]

[Midnight Emergency Room Instance]

[Construction Site Bricklaying Instance]

[Full-Time Childcare Instance]

On the Strange World forum, everyone lists the instances you must never take. They avoid them if they can, preferring to have money deducted. The warning posts are highlighted, and each one is hotter than the last.

Bai Ye reads those posts too. He just uses them to pick out the most difficult instances with the highest pay.

At first, nobody believes Bai Ye can do it. He's only been a new player for a few months. How could he survive these strange instances? He'll die horribly and log off sooner or later.

And yet, every time, Bai Ye completes the task perfectly.

He does the best in his instances, and his strange encounters are always bright and cheerful. In the end, the name Bai Ye sits at the top of the forum rankings.

The veteran players refuse to believe it. "He has to be a big spender."

Bai Ye glances at his Life Points and keeps his head down, taking another instance. "I'm just an ordinary wage slave."

An ordinary wage slave, doing everything for a living.

Until hope is gone, we will keep fighting to stay alive.
