The Tyrant's Ferocious Little Brat

The new emperor of the Morris Empire is a cold-blooded usurper. He's ruthless, has slaughtered his own family, and seized the throne by killing the previous emperor. He's an absolute tyrant. The nobles hate him in their hearts but fear him even more; they tremble just at the mention of his name.

On his birthday, the new emperor receives two special gifts.

A dying prophet foretells that the invincible emperor will be defeated by his own son.

The emperor had no heirs, but on that very same day, a merchant from out of town happens to find his illegitimate son, who has been living outside the palace, and presents the boy to him as a gift in hopes of winning his favor.

The emperor glances at the child coldly. The boy is adorable, with fluffy black hair and ragged clothes, a few bloodstains on him, and a pile of junk he treats like treasure. He looks like a little beggar plucked from a trash heap.

So weak that a single finger could topple him.

And this kid is supposed to defeat him? Hah.

The emperor thinks little of family ties, but he doesn't believe he could lose to this child, either. Nor will he let a prophecy control him and make him do something ridiculous in a panic.

The little prince is allowed to stay in the palace for the time being.

At first, neither the officials nor the public believes the little prince will live. No one believes the prophecy could come true, either. Some people in the city even start betting on which day the little prince will die.

The daily greeting becomes, "Is the little prince dead yet?"

The first day, the second day, the third day...

Countless days pass, and the little prince is still alive.

During a report, the tyrannical emperor is seated at the head of the hall when the little prince suddenly rushes in, claws bared, and attacks him.

Everyone thinks: The little prince tried to assassinate His Majesty. He's done for this time.

But when they look up, they see the emperor helplessly pulling the little prince off him and soothing him gently.

Everyone: ?

Everyone: Is this what it means to defeat him?

One day, the emperor tries to poke his son's soft, chubby cheek.

He gets bitten.

The beast-cub-like child watches him warily and chomps down on his finger.

The emperor's expression turns grave.

What a vicious little cub.

Just like his son should be.

Reader's note:

1. A family-bond story. Dad is just Dad; the romance is with someone else. A fantasy story set on another continent.

2. The title, blurb, and character names may change if I come up with better ones. I'll flesh out the concept later, but the basic premise won't change.
