After Faking My Death, I Picked Up a Mad Villain

A cat-like top who seems cold and distant but is actually super clingy x a timid, dog-like bottom who only wants to stay alive

Fang Li never imagined he would transmigrate into a book one day.

Worse, he transmigrated as the lackey of the notorious villain whom everyone wanted to see dead.

His mission was simple: all he had to do was wait for the villain to fall into darkness, and then he could return to the real world.

So Fang Li slacked off while occasionally seeking out the villain to discuss how much they hated the world, conveniently raising the villain's corruption level along the way.

After completing his mission, Fang Li chose to fake his death. Before leaving, though, he heard that the villain had abandoned the male lead, who was already within his grasp, and gone mad searching for Fang Li all night.

He had even left these words behind:

"Once I find him, I'll kill him."

Maybe in your next life, Fang Li thought.

Then one day, he opened his front door.

And found Xie Qingyan crouched on his doorstep, drenched from head to toe.

Fang Li: ?

Fang Li: ...What a coincidence.

-

Xie Qingyan had been disliked by everyone since childhood.

The strange spirit root he was born with made him an exceptionally gifted cultivator, yet he was still shunned.

Betrayed by his fellow disciples, ignored by his master, and abandoned by his parents, Xie Qingyan had come to believe the entire world was his enemy.

...Except for the little sparrow who was always chirping by his side.

Later, when he fell into darkness and nearly wiped out the entire cultivation world, the little sparrow's face appeared in his mind as blood clouded his vision.

When he rushed back in a panic, all he found was a cold corpse.

Xie Qingyan held Fang Li in his arms.

A tear fell unconsciously into Fang Li's palm.

-

Years after Fang Li's death, everyone around him had forgotten him. Only Xie Qingyan remembered every little thing they had shared.

Then one day, Xie Qingyan opened his eyes and found himself lying on a strange street.

He turned his head and saw the face he had yearned for every day.

"Fang..."

Before he could finish speaking,

Xie Qingyan was taken to the police station.

Xie Qingyan: ?

Fang Li: Officer! Someone's trying to kill me!!
