Hello, It's My Great Displeasure to Serve You

Insomniac shou x robot companion gong

Shi Yan suffered from severe insomnia.

Whether it was taking medication, seeing doctors, counting sheep before bed, or trying methods ranging from wellness routines to the latest technology, he'd tried everything. In the end, he still lay awake until dawn.

Looking at the dark circles almost reaching his chin in the mirror, Shi Yan finally broke down.

Then one day, he found a giant package outside his door. A small card that had fallen to the ground proclaimed in large, bold, red letters:

"Lingmou Tech proudly presents the fifth-generation AI robot! Want good looks? He's got them! Want height? He's got it! Want an eight-pack? He's got that too!"

"Whether you like loyal puppy dogs or wild wolves, domineering CEOs or gentle husbands, choose from a huge variety of personalities!"

"The fifth-generation AI robot now features a sleep-companion function, added to its original all-purpose boyfriend model. With him by your side, your nights will never be lonely again!"

Shi Yan curled his lip, unimpressed. But when he opened the package, the first thing he saw was a human face.

Shi Yan nearly screamed himself crazy.

-

A man had suddenly appeared out of nowhere in his home. Even if he was only an AI robot, Shi Yan still found it hard to get used to him.

He wasn't used to the carefully prepared breakfasts, the spotless room tidied every day, the second person's clothes appearing in his wardrobe, or a pair of eyes glued to him wherever he went.

So, after forcing himself to put up with the robot for a week, Shi Yan decided to send him away.

But as soon as the thought crossed his mind, a slender hand tugged at the hem of his shirt. Shi Yan's reflection appeared in the robot's blue eyes as it spoke in a voice desperately imitating a human's:

"Robots sent back will be processed as scrap."

"Please, give me one more chance."

Looking at that pitiful face, undeniably handsome enough to make gods and men alike lose their minds,

Shi Yan admitted that his heart had softened.

...However, Shi Yan had no idea at the time how much trouble that moment of weakness would bring him.

One sleepless night, Shi Yan felt the mattress dip beside him. His robot slipped under the covers. The touch against his arm felt impossibly real.

Imitating human breathing, he lowered his head and leaned close to Shi Yan's ear.

"Detected increase in master's body temperature and heart rate."

"Master's need is..."

"Affection."
