The Scrap King of the 1960s

Song Ran transmigrated to 1967, a time of scarcity, with no roof over her head, no money or ration coupons, and no one by her side.

But none of that was the point. The point was that she was a librarian who had suddenly appeared in front of a man while clutching a box of documents.

He Yi was stunned. The old man had been sent down to the countryside, his home had been taken over, and someone had stolen the job he'd counted on. He was already down on his luck, and now, damn it, a "female ghost" had appeared in broad daylight.

"Um..." Song Ran pressed her lips together. "I'm doing a magic trick. The great vanishing act."

"Oh?" He Yi drawled, sneering. "Make someone else disappear, then."

Song Ran tried everything, but she couldn't vanish in front of He Yi and return to her original world.

He Yi had been in a foul mood lately. He'd finally found a job at a recycling station, only to have an unwanted shadow trailing him everywhere. Whenever he tried to chase her off, she'd tug at his sleeve and shout to everyone that he was harassing her. Damn it, how was he supposed to live like this?

Song Ran couldn't help it. If she didn't stick to him and tie them together, what if he reported her?

But following him around like this wasn't a solution either. The local women had started pointing at them, and the police kept coming by to check on them.

After thinking it over, Song Ran wrote up a fake marriage agreement.

He Yi didn't want to sign, but he wanted even less to be arrested as a hooligan. So he amended the agreement and comforted himself with the thought that he was just paying for a housekeeper to cook and do the laundry.
