After I Lost All My Martial Arts

My master once said that only two things in this world could protect me: her, and martial arts.

Now she's dead, and my martial arts have been "crippled" too.

The Eight Great Sects shout for my blood, preaching benevolence and righteousness while coveting the peerless arts of the Wuyue Palace.

With nowhere left to turn, I was tossed like a sack into Feng Yan's carriage. He was the Yunmengpu Manor Lord I'd once beaten into a river, and is now fabulously wealthy.

He acts aloof and haughty in public, but takes advantage of me in private, making me work like a slave.

I play dumb, steal his iced drinks, ruin his famous paintings, and read lines from tacky romance novels aloud:

"My dear enemy~ Isn't repaying a life-saving favor by giving yourself to me even better?"

He storms off with a cold face, but comes back in the middle of the night to demand that I say it again.

Hah. Such a fake gentleman.

Bonus scene:

Xie Chenyan: "Lord Manor, the storybook says domineering manor lords all love feeding people."

Feng Yan: "...Shut up and eat."

In the dead of night.

Feng Yan pushes open the door and places a hand warmer in Xie Chenyan's arms.

She smiles lazily. "Lord Manor, are you here to warm my bed?"

He leans close, his breath brushing her ear, his voice low and husky:

"Say a couple more lines... like you did during the day."

Xie Chenyan raises an eyebrow. "'My dear enemy~' or 'My husband~'?"

His eyes darken. He takes her chin between his fingers, amusement glinting in his eyes. "...Insolent."

Theme: I make my own choices.
